They say that but its was probably some phishing scam, clicking the website link would have given the scammer your usernames, passwords, and any banking info if you have it stored in your browser
As for why abortion specifically, I assume something to do with teen pregnancy coupled with strict parents. The kid is scared of the consequences so is desperate and would fall for anything so long as it gives hope.
