Gautam recently said he’s working on elo for worldguessr, but that gave me an idea…
What if Swordbattle had elo?
Think about it, the community has always been comparing pvp skill since the start of the game! Adding elo would give swordbattle players the ability to showoff their pvp skills!
What is elo?
Elo is basically a ranking system where everyone starts with the same amount of points and gain/lose points based on how well they do against other players.
How would it work?
Every kill against a player would grant elo, and getting killed takes away elo. (Bots, monsters, and logged out players wouldn’t count towards elo.) Every player starts with 1000 elo, also elo rankings should be displayed on the in game leaderboard and the menu leaderboard. The amount of elo you gain/lose will be based on how much elo the other player has. It also will have to factor in other things like:
Xp Difference: More xp they have over you, more elo you get. The opposite is also true.
Opponent Hp on Attack: The less Hp they have when you attack the less elo you’ll get. (Prevents roaching/stealing kills)
Hp on kill/Opponent Hp on death: The more you demolish an opponent, the more elo you get. The closer the match was, the less you’ll get.
Why add elo?
Elo would give the community a way to compare skill, something the community has done for ages. Adding elo could boost swordbattle’s retention. Elo would also give community members a reason to fight instead of grind as well.
TLDR:
Add a system into the game to track how good your pvp is based on your kills/deaths against other players.
