Community made skins are hard to get in the game from now on unless they fit the game art style, planning to lock skin submissions to only verified artists starting from V2. There will be instructions to apply for verified

On the one hand, I realize that this could be a nice precaution to avoid any wasted effort on skins that don’t end up making it to the game and to ensure that skins have a consistent artstyle. But I do see some potential flaws to this. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I personally think skin submissions should still be open to everyone. People often have amazing concepts (such as this black hole skin), but they just need a bit of feedback in order to meet expectations. I feel like a better solution is to just give more constructive criticism and suggestions from the community for matching the game’s artstyle, or updating the skin-making instructions to include tips for emulating the artstyle. This would probably be more encouraging and welcoming to new artists, and give people the opportunity for improvement.

Also, I feel like being required to apply to become a verified artist might seem a bit discouraging. I can see some people just wanting to make only one, incredible skin to be added to the game and just dip, but don’t have the time/commitment to become a verified, official artist, so they end up not bothering to apply/try to make one.

I completly agree with this. I also think that this could reduce the player base, as many people joined the forum/ stayed in swordbattle because they made skins, even if they didn’t get accepted.

Yeah, I agree and can completely understand your points for this. The main issue right now is that there are so many different skins in the game ruining any kind of art style or consistent design with the game.

I can definitely see an open skin submission system where the rules are enforced more strongly. I think in the end instead of a verified artist system it makes sense to allow any skin if they fit a set of requirements to make sure they are aligned with the game’s style and design.

We will work on preparing a set of requirements, but I will be rethinking this and I will leave skins open for the time being until any further notice.

How about a compromise? Official skin makers get skins implemented very fast or could just be kept secret or whatever idk

While the community posts a ton of skins every month and only let’s say 3 of them get in chosen by the team of course
