Stealing Shadowblade’s idea I will be doing a Pokemon Radical Red, a ROM hack of Fire Red that includes all Pokemon currently in the series (Excluding the two god-like pokemon)
Unlike Shadowblade, I like pain. (Extreme masochism) I will be playing hardcore on my first playthrough. Also unlike Shadowbalde I’m too lazy to explain everything.
This will be kinda of a nuzlock, once a pokemon faints, it’s considered dead and unusable for the rest of the playthrough, no healing items in battle, no catching pokemon that’s not a forum member but a trainer sweeps me I can go back to the latest save I did.
I start off with froakie (monke) , go catch a sentret (uri) and a galarian ponyta (me) and a Pikachu (gautam) at route 2 and the forest place. I realise that Route 21 a and the deeper forest are blocked by 2 rivals, encountering them I realise that I’m very underpowered. And they both sweep me
The current level cap is 16 and I decide to train penguin to lvl 15, (bc that’s the last good move), monke to 16 (bc I can evolve at 16) and Uri to 15 (because it evolves) and gautam to 13 (last good move before 16)
Don’t forget to catch a Lewcan the Toucannon in Viridian City (Pikipek).
Also there are going to be items that are going to be really useful for your playthrough, namely the Pokevial and the Time Changer. After obtaining them, you’ll be able to access them by pressing “L”.
For the Pokevial, there’s going to be a “puzzle” battle in one of the Viridian City houses. The Pokevial acts like a portable Pokemon Center, allowing you to heal your Pokemon back to full health up to 6 times, which you refill once you heal in a Pokemon Center.
And for the Time Changer, go to Oak’s Lab and there’s going to be a scientist at the bottom left that’s going to ask you trivia questions. Time Changer will allow you to change between Day and Night manually without needing to wait for it to actually become Day/Night in the real world.
Don’t forget to use the DexNav. You’ll find it by pressing Start to open the menu, and then hitting right. Once you’ve encountered a Pokemon, you’ll be able to scan for it so you are guaranteed to encounter it again (so you won’t have to worry about really low encounter rates). It’ll be useful if you’re looking for a better Pokemon with specific moves/abilities, or if you want to farm wild Pokemon for items/XP (Audinos give a bunch of XP).
Also don’t hesitate about using TMs. Unlike in FireRed, TMs can be used an infinite number of times.
I sound like such a nerd right now, but I learned all of this while playing through Radical Red myself. My main playthrough is actually my second one, lost my progress for the first one sadly
