so recently gautam posted about a new program of his called forum rewards. basically what forum rewards is is that he will be rewarding users who participate in the forum a lot! (almost) every week, gautam will give a challenge and a possible prize for people to win.
this week, the challenge is to get the most user seconds spent on forum.
now, with that being said, i do not plan to participate in this, for reasons i will explain some other time (a topic will be created if needed if you guys would like to know why).
but i think that gautam has played a smart move here, encouraging people to spend time on forum using prizes!
however, i do not think it will be worth it for someone who does not want to be on forum just for the sake of being on the forum…for example, the prize this week is one dollar on an amazon gift card.
one dollar is almost nothing, and if people are going to spend 40+ hours per week (like shadowblade did) then it is not really worth it to try to competitively compete for these prizes.
so, basically what i think the outcome will be (more for this weeks challenge than the rest): a lot of people will try to get most user seconds, but won’t try too hard because the prize for that is not worth the time involved.
however, i believe that it will increase the user’s time on forum, but no one will be grinding really hard for the prize.
what do you think?
