Help was sent so life updates (AA is still infinite rizz)

High school for me has been a heck of a ride so far. Mostly due to me either having some deadly anxiety about going and being crazy overwhelmed (which is what my aunt thinks), or having an infection in my intestines (which is what my doctor told me she thinks it is). In the mornings before going to school I have literally been dying (gagging/puking, having diarrhea, being lightheaded to the point of almost passing out) and I’m not sure how to combat this and get myself into school. Because I am not in school I am falling behind on some assignments that I can only complete in school and I’m also not allowed to do anything outside of my house with any friends. This has led me to the point of almost being forced to go (which my dad tried and I almost threw up all over his car), and me literally (dead serious) wanting to get over this (either fear or infection) and go. I’ve come to you guys because I have trusted you guys with some crazy stuff over the past (almost) 3 years, and I trust you guys enough to ask for some tips. Do any of you guys know how to combat some crazy nausea, social anxiety, or some crazy ahh illness to get me back into school?

Send help

Alex

I don’t have any advice when it comes to being sick or nausea since I don’t really get sick too often. Or at least whenever I do, it’s often during a time where there isn’t any school. Although I might be able to help with the getting behind on your schoolwork, and social anxiety problem since I lack social skills myself! (i have autism which is probably related)

I’ll start off with your schoolwork problem I guess.

A really basic tip I learned is to email your teachers for at least a summary of what they taught in class and for whatever work you can complete at home. Chances are that you’ll still be behind, but your general idea of the class material and what is going on can improve. I find this helpful since even if I’m not completely sure on what is going on, I can just google up an explanation that fills in the gaps that weren’t entirely clear inside the email. Something to note is that, some teachers don’t really use their emails, so that’s something to take note of. Another thing about emails from my experience at least, is that my teachers don’t really respond unless I use the proper email formatting, so I’d recommend formatting your emails just in case. If you don’t know how to do that, you can ask your parents or just google it up online.

Whenever you are able to get back into school, if there’s something that you don’t understand, try to be brave and ask questions I guess? Your teachers are probably there to help out, so it can improve your understanding if something is unclear. If they have office hours where you can go meet up with your teacher, then you can consider going to those if you need a further explanation on something where you wouldn’t be able to get in class.

I’ll move onto social anxiety, my tips are just sit with people, or at least people who talk a decent amount to the point that they aren’t like overbearingly talkative per se. You can sometimes try and talk to your teachers sometimes I suppose. I don’t have the greatest advice for social anxiety since I struggle with it as well, but be brave is what I try to do at least. Sometimes I force myself to talk to at least someone which definitely feels awkward, but the more I do it, the less awkward it gets. It certainly still feels weird, and that’s fine. Anxiety is just weird lol. Sometimes I join/hop into a conversation that my friends/other people are already having after eavesdropping for a little bit. It really allows me to ease into the convo after I gain a bit of a grasp of what they are talking about. Also when I say eavesdropping, I don’t mean it in like a bad way, more like listening to somebody’s conversation, casually.

Idk anything about most of that stuff except the anxiety and social anxiety like I used to be home schooled for 4 years then in 9th grade I randomly got thrust into school I had a lot of anxiety and self consciousness and didn’t talk much you’ve just gotta put yourself out there and not give af about what ppl think ik its crazy also just being confident in myself and my social skills (even tho there still sorta sh*t) has really helped me that’s part of why i loved forum so much I managed to make so many friends so quickly at a time when I wasn’t confident in my social abbility you guys really helped

Tbh Aa, kinda like mystic said put yourself out here and not care about what others think, do I seem like the person to care? nah. Thats how ive made all my friends is bcs im js a goofy guy thats not scared of yapping. So i mean just try to talk to ppl, and abt school like elemental said, just ask your teachers for help, and do what you can at home.

So the funny thing about symptoms like these is it can be either or both.

The intestines have a bunch of nerves running around them and are responsible for that gut feeling people get when they think something is right but are unsure.

The hormones released when you’re stressed and/or anxious affect these nerves a bunch, and the symptoms that you’re listing are typical. Lightheadedness could be a knock-on effect of the nausea+vomitting+diarrhea activating nerves that lower blood pressure, could also be dehydration, maybe even hyperventilation if you feel panicked at all.

Infection might be a possibility, but if the symptoms started just prior to school starting I’d assume your anxiety is probably the main culprit. For infections, only ones that I know of is H. pylori and Candida. Most people have them and are fine, but certain strains of em harm us. Stuff like genetics, gut health, immune system, and stress can amplify their effects. If you had to take antibiotics recently, it could have killed off the good bacteria in your intestines which caused a bad strain of bacteria to proliferate.

Overall, eat some simple, bland, and easily digestible stuff for now. Spices could aggravate your stomach which may make you feel bad. Once you start feeling a bit better, you can slowly incorporate stuff from your usual diet. Make sure you’re drinking enough water in the morning. If it was an infection caused by a poor gut microbiome, probiotics could help.

For anxiety, I think everyone else gave good advice. All I can add is that at the end of the day, no one is going to psychoanalyze every word you say or focus on how you look or think about any shortcomings you think you have. We’re all very selfish and think about ourselves most of the time.

Finally, make note of the stuff that make you feel bad. Maybe write a journal or use a calendar app to mark stuff like this. You could talk to your doctor about them and he/she might be able to give you better advice.

Writing is fun I guess, and despite me writing at least the first or second most, I still wouldn’t really consider mine to be the amount that I would use to describe an essay.

artie, you should give try giving advice to aaprods since everybody here has at least written a small paragraph >:D

edit: a-bot, go add like two sentences to your three sentence paragraph >:D

I do use AI as a final fact check for stuff that I write about. If I’m gonna give advice, I’m gonna make sure that my advice is actually right in the first place. I didn’t use AI for what was highlighted there tho.

For my first draft, chatGPT suggested I was leaning heavily on the infection part and not enough on the anxiety part. It also pointed out other related points. It suggested “proliferate” as a word to put there since I couldn’t think of the right word off the top of my head. What I have highlighted here is what AI actually suggested to add, but I wrote it in my own words.

Point is, tools like those aren’t 100% accurate.

These long paragraphs aren’t written with you in mind, its written for AAProds since he asked for advice.

What are you complaining for?
