Don’t really see the point in deleting sb and realmz as categories since they are what is currently supplying most of the traffic to this site. All of the other game categories are pretty dead tho so its not a bad idea to remove dedicated categories for them.

Possible problems:

  • There is no guarantee that the worldguessr community will migrate to this website. Axing the only userbase currently on this website seems risky.
    – Most people are used to discord, which is more like the public chats section than discourse topics (There is discord features that are like discourse topics (forgetting their name atm) , but that’s not usually the medium that users use to chat, usually its done through threads)
    – Not necessarily a dealbreaker, but most discord users are not familiar with markdown formatting for topics. In discourse forums, its more necessary than it is on discord imo. There will defo be a learning curve.

Possible solutions:

  • If there were subcategories for a category like IO Games that function like categories, I think that would make more sense. This would make the current userbase okay with the switch.
  • Provide readily available resources for learning markdown formatting. People will more likely stay if all the info is in one space.
  • Advertise the forum of WorldGuessr discord
  • Cross compatibility between Discord and the forum (not feasible probably?)
